VILLAGE OF BRUCE
BOARD MEETING MINUTES
January 4, 2016

Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a scheduled monthly meeting of the Village Board was held on Monday, January 4, 2016.

Village President Mike Newman presided and called to order the meeting at the Village Hall facility at 7:00 p.m. Board members present were Mark Zimmer, Shane Trott, Jim Doke, Bobbi Jo Fillion, Gayanne Skogen and Jim Moore.  Clerk Terry Hegeholz attended also.

Motion by Doke, seconded by Fillion to approve the Agenda, carried.

Motion by Fillion, seconded by Trott to dispense of the reading and approve the minutes of the December 7, 2015 Regular Board Meeting, carried.

TREASURER’S REPORT:  Motion by Fillion, seconded by Skogen to approve the Treasurer’s report as given, carried.

EMPLOYEE’S REPORT: Darlene Wundrow attended the meeting and reported the new plow truck is running very good.  The wider plow is working out well.  Minor repairs have been made on the truck by the Rusk County Highway Department shop.  DNR representative Don Kisinger met with Darlene and a few board members to discuss the plan to remove trees in the Village Park.  He suggested contacting Bob Hauser to help with the details of the project.

PETITIONERS-CITIZEN COMPLAINTS AND REQUESTS:

Bruce High School Post Prom Committee-Annual Donation Request: Motion by Fillion, seconded by Doke to approve the annual $100.00 donation to the Bruce High School Post Prom Committee, carried.

PUBLIC COMMENTS: None.

APPLICATIONS:

Building Permits:

Motion by Fillion seconded by Trott to approve a building permit for Linda Novak to re-roof her house at 919 N. Alvey Street, carried.

Motion by Trott, seconded by Fillion to approve a building permit for Kane’s Construction for Leila Krzanowski to replace the roof and soffit at her house at 525 E. Trails End Avenue, carried.

Motion by Trott, seconded by Fillion to approve a building permit for Richard Christianson to re-roof his house at 324 E. Washington Avenue, carried.

COMMITTEE REPORTS:

Public Works:

Potential New Village Shop:    Motion by Doke, seconded by Fillion to table the “Potential New Village Shop” issue until the February, 2016 Regular Board Meeting, carried.

Public Welfare:

Drainage Ditch at Village Park: Wundrow reported she is waiting for Steve Golat to come and take a look at the drainage ditch at the Village Park.  Motion by Doke, seconded by Fillion to approve tabling the “Drainage Ditch at Village Park” issue until the February, 2016 Regular Board Meeting, carried.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS:

Kiwanis Playground Equipment Grant Donation-Arlene Knops: The swings have been ordered.  Motion by Fillion, seconded by Trott to approve tabling the “Kiwanis Playground Equipment Grant Donation” issue until the February, 2016 Regular Board Meeting, carried.

Main Street Beautification Project Update: No new information to report.  Motion by Trott, seconded by Fillion to approve tabling the “Main Street Beautification Project” issue until the February, 2016 Regular Board Meeting, carried.  Newman will contact the owner of the Bruce Theatre and discuss the cost of lighting the marquee.

Pine Trees in Village Park: Newman reported the project to remove diseased pine trees in the Village Park officially started January 1, 2016. Darlene is making phone calls to get quotes on costs to remove them. She plans to meet with Bob Hauser in January to go over the details of work to be done.  Motion by Fillion, seconded by Trott to approve tabling the “Pine Trees in Village Park” issue until the February, 2016 Regular Board Meeting, carried.

Update Ordinances: Discussion was held regarding updating Ordinances in the future. Newman has started to look through the Ordinance book.  Motion by Doke, seconded by Fillion to approve tabling the “Update Ordinances” issue until the February, 2016 Regular Board Meeting, carried.

APPROVAL OF BILLS: Motion by Fillion, seconded by Trott to pay vouchers and electronic tax payments totaling $52,237.71, carried.

CORRESPONDENCE:  The Rusk County Animal Shelter sent a thank you to the Village Board for the annual donation of $500.00.

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

2016 Caucus will be held on Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at 5:00 p.m. at the Village Hall. 100 W. River Avenue, Bruce, WI.  Mark Zimmer, Shane Trott and Gayanne Skogen terms expire in April, 2016.

ADJOURNMENT:  Motion by Fillion, seconded by Trott to adjourn, carried.  Adjournment was at 7:20 p.m.
