VILLAGE OF BRUCE
BOARD MEETING MINUTES
January 7, 2019 

Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a scheduled monthly meeting of the Village Board was held on Monday, January 7, 2019.

Village President Mike Newman presided and called to order the meeting at the Village Hall facility at 7:00 p.m. Board members present were John Hoiby, Shane Trott, Gayanne Skogen, Galen Brainerd, Mark Zimmer & Karen Hanson.  Terry Hegeholz attended also.

Motion by Brainerd, seconded by Trott to approve the Agenda, carried.

Motion by Zimmer, seconded by Skogen to approve the December 3, 2018 Regular Board Meeting, carried.

TREASURER’S REPORT:  Motion by Zimmer, seconded by Trott to approve the Treasurer’s report as given, carried.

EMPLOYEE’S REPORT: Darlene Wundrow attended the meeting and reported the new broom sweeper will be delivered on January 10th.  The thirty new electronic read water meters are ready to be installed.  The workers will be doing that in the coming months.

PETITIONERS-CITIZEN COMPLAINTS AND REQUESTS: Sean Nagel attended the meeting and informed the Board that he will be leasing the building at 339 South Main Street that is owned by Indianhead Community Action Agency.  He will be using the space for indoor flea markets throughout the year and also hosting private parties.  He said he will possibly be installing vending machines and will contact the Village Hall for a permit.  The Board thanked him for attending and wished him good luck in his business venture.

PUBLIC COMMENTS: None.

APPLICATIONS:
Cigarette & Tobacco License-Dollar General:  Motion by Zimmer, seconded by Trott to approve a Cigarette & Tobacco License for Dollar General, carried.  The new store is located at 710 W. Arthur Avenue and is scheduled to open January 14, 2019.  

COMMITTEE REPORTS:

Public Works:
Potential New Village Shop Update: Nothing new to report this month.  Motion by Trott, seconded by Brainerd to table the “Potential New Village Shop” issue until the February, 2019 Regular Board Meeting, carried.
North Main Street Reconstruction Project-USDA Rural Development Funding: Motion by Brainerd, seconded by Zimmer to table the “North Main Street Reconstruction Project-USDA Rural Development Funding” issue until the February, 2019 Regular Board Meeting, carried.

Public Welfare:
Flower Baskets on Main Street: No new information to report.  Motion by Trott, seconded by Brainerd to table the “Flower Baskets on Main Street” issue until the February, 2019 Regular Board Meeting, carried.

Administration:
Update Ordinances: Motion by Skogen, seconded by Trott to table the “Update Ordinances” issue until the February 2019 Regular Board Meeting, carried.  A meeting will be scheduled in January.

Finance:
Invoice Approval to Raze Building at 202 W. Railroad Avenue:  Motion by Zimmer, seconded by Skogen to approve payment of the invoice from Gudis Sand & Gravel for $5,944.69 for the removal of the buildings at 202 W. Railroad Avenue, carried.

APPROVAL OF BILLS: Motion by Trott, seconded by Hanson to pay vouchers and electronic tax payments totaling $53,781.44, carried.

2019 Caucus:  Held on January 7, 2019 at 6:30 p.m. at the Village Hall, 100 W. River Avenue, Bruce, WI  54819.

ADJOURNMENT:  Motion by Zimmer, seconded by Trott to adjourn, carried.  Adjournment was at 7:15 p.m.
