VILLAGE OF BRUCE
2017 CAUCUS
Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the 2017 Village of Bruce Caucus was held on Monday, January 16, 2017, at the Village Hall.
Village President Michael Newman called to order the Caucus at 6:00 p.m. The first order of business was to elect a chairperson to run the Caucus.
Motion by Jim Locke to appoint Shane Trott as Chairperson, seconded by Mark Zimmer. Newman called twice for any other nominations for Chairperson. Shane Trott was unanimously appointed as Chairperson to run the Caucus.
Chairperson Trott called for nominations for two tellers to canvass votes for the Caucus. Motion by Michael Newman to nominate Gayanne Skogen as teller, seconded by Mark Zimmer. Motion by Jim Locke to nominate Mark Zimmer as teller, seconded by Bobbi Jo Fillion.
Chairperson Trott read the posting which included the following positions which terms expire April 18th, 2017. The Spring Election will be held on April 4, 2017.
Incumbent Michael Newman for Village President
Incumbent James Moore for Village Trustee
Incumbent James Doke for Village Trustee
Incumbent Bobbi Jo Fillion for Village Trustee
Chairperson Trott announced that James Moore had filed a Notification of Non-Candidacy for Trustee and would not be seeking another term as Village Trustee.
Chairperson Trott called for nominations for Village President. Motion by Jim Locke to nominate Michael Newman for Village President, seconded by Bobbi Jo Fillion. Chairperson Trott called twice for further nominations for Village President. With none made, he called for a motion to close nominations. Motion by Jim Locke to close nominations, seconded by Bobbi Jo Fillion.
Chairperson Trott called for nominations from the floor for Village Trustees.
Motion by Dale Lincoln to nominate Galen Brainerd for Village Trustee, seconded by Kathy Hoiby.
Motion by Alice Folgate to nominate John Hoiby, Sr. for Village Trustee, seconded by Galen Brainerd.
Motion by Jim Locke to nominate Jim Doke for Village Trustee, seconded by Bobbi Jo Fillion.
Motion by Kim Grasley to nominate Bobbi Jo Fillion for Village Trustee, seconded by Jim Doke.
Chairperson Trott called twice for further nominations for Village Trustees. With none made, he called for a motion to close nominations. Motion by Jim Doke to close nominations for Village Trustees, seconded by Jim Locke.
Chairperson Trott read the list of nominations for Village President; Mike Newman, Village Trustees; Galen Brainerd, John Hoiby, Sr., Jim Doke & Bobbi Jo Fillion.
Chairperson Trott called for a motion to adjourn. Motion by Mark Zimmer to adjourn to 2017 Village of Bruce Caucus, seconded by Bobbi Jo Fillion.
The Caucus adjourned at 6:08 p.m.
