VILLAGE OF BRUCE
SPECIAL BOARD MEETING MINUTES
July 8th, 2021

Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a scheduled Special meeting of the Village Board was held on Thursday, July 8th, 2021.

Village President Shane Trott presided and called to order the meeting at the Village Hall facility at 2:00 p.m. Board members present were Galen Brainerd, Loren Beebe, Kim Grasley, Rob Grabon, Jim Johnson and Mark Zimmer. Clerk/Treasurer Jessica Hayes attended also.

The Board met todiscuss the addition of approximately 550’ of 8” PVC DR 18 watermain for the purpose of a transmission main between well #1 and well #3. The Village is currently under orders regarding high levels of manganese in both wells. The Village is currently in the process of rehabilitating both wells, but the results are not guaranteed.  Due to the North Main Street Reconstruction Project, there is approximately 550’ of street that is currently tore up between well #1 and well #3. The Board discussed that it would be prudent to install a watermain in the street now in anticipation that a water treatment plant may be required in the future, if the rehabilitation is not successful. The main would be installed and then capped at both ends. The cost of installation would be approximately $23,314.50. If the main were not installed now, the cost just for street/asphalt repair would be approximately $35,849.61 (this does not include the watermain costs). Motion by Grabon, seconded by Brainerd to approve installing approximately 550’ of 8” PVC DR 18 watermain for the purpose of a transmission main between well #1 and well #3 at the cost of $23,314.50 in anticipation that a water treatment plant may be required in the future, carried.

ADJOURNMENT:  Motion by Zimmer, seconded by Grasley to adjourn, carried.  Adjournment was at 2:14 p.m.
