Village of Bruce
Public Budget Hearing
Tuesday, November 12th, 2024
Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a Public Hearing was held at the Village Hall on Tuesday, November 12th, 2024.
Village President Shane Trott called the Public Hearing to order at 5:00 p.m. The following Board members were present; Darlene Wundrow, Jim Johnson, Galen Brainerd & Tim Dolan. Clerk/Treasurer Jessica Hayes and Deputy Nicole Frisinger attended as well. A sign in sheet was circulated.
The purpose of the hearing was to gather input from the public, review and hear comments on the proposed 2025 Budget for the Village of Bruce.
APPROVAL OF AGENDA:
Motion by Johnson, seconded by Dolan to approve the agenda as provided, carried.
Trott reported the proposed budget for 2025 for the Village of Bruce is $590,126.00 and the tax levy is $139,298.00.
PUBLIC COMMENTS:
Mark Charron asked if there was a mark up from the Village to residents on the new garbage bins that will be billed to residents in 2025. Trott responded no, they are just passed on to the customer at cost.
He also asked why the new Village of Bruce garbage bins were being charged to customers instead of coming out of the general fund. Trott responded that the decision was made by the full Board and that it was decided that if the cans were owned directly by the resident, they would be more inclined to be taken care of. Wundrow stated that cans will be numbered, so in the event that they were stolen, the possibility of tracking them down would be easier.
With no further questions from the public and after the required time limit, Trott called for any further comments, and none were made.
Motion by Johnson, seconded by Dolan to approve the 2025 Village of Bruce Levy at $139,298.00, carried.
Motion by Johnson, seconded by Brainerd to approve the Village of Bruce 2025 Budget at $590,126.00, carried.
Trott called for a motion to adjourn.
Motion by Brainerd, seconded by Johnson to adjourn at 5:30 p.m., carried.
