VILLAGE OF BRUCE
SPECIAL BOARD MEETING MINUTES
May 12th, 2026
Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a scheduled Special meeting of the Village Board was held on Tuesday, May 12th, 2026.
Village President Shane Trott presided and called to order the meeting at the American Legion Hall facility, 804 N. Main Street, at 5:30 p.m. Board members present were Galen Brainerd, Jim Johnson, John Hoiby, & Darlene Wundrow. Clerk/Treasurer Jessica Hayes attended as well.
NEW BUSINESS:
Bid Opening & Award for Village Hall Flood Damage Repairs: The Village did not receive any bids for the reconstruction of the Village Hall facility. Fireline Sprinkler, LLC has begun their portion of the work. Coolsys will be on site to begin their portion of the project in the next couple weeks. Motion by Brainerd, seconded by Johnson to extend the advertisement for bids until the June Regular Monthly Board meeting and to advertise in the Rice Lake newspaper, carried.
Committee Meeting 5/7/26 Report Minutes Approval: A committee meeting was held on May 7th, 2026. Below are the minutes from that meeting:
The committee met to review applications submitted for the part time maintenance positions that were posted.
The committee recommends offering one position, May thru September, 3 days a week at $14.00/hr, first to Denis Beck and if he does not accept the position, Jason Frey.
The committee recommends offering two positions, June thru August, 3 days a week at $14.00/hr to Coy Engel and Demetri Lahr.
Meeting adjourned at 11:13 a.m.
Motion by Wundrow, seconded by Brainerd to approve the committee’s recommendations and minutes from the May 7th, 2026 meeting, carried.
Summer Help Hire: Motion by Wundrow, seconded by Brainerd to approve hiring Denis Beck, May thru September, 3 days a week at $14.00/hr, and if he does not accept the position, offer to Jason Frey, and offering two positions, June thru August, 3 days a week at $14.00/hr to Coy Engel and Demetri Lahr, carried.
ADJOURNMENT: Motion by Brainerd, seconded by Johnson to adjourn, carried. Adjournment was at 5:41 p.m.
